US President George W. Bush has met with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai in New York. Bush is promising continued American support for the country in fighting Taliban militants.
Bush received Karzai's report on the latest developments in Afghanistan and repeated there are signs of improvement in local education and health care.
But the two leaders made no direct mention of Afghanistan's booming drug trade, the unsuccessful search for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden or the resurgence of the Taliban.
Analysts say Bush wants to try to show progress in the war-torn country which has largely been overshadowed by the fighting in Iraq.
