Equal rights for disabled demanded in EU

Hundreds of people from across Europe have rallied outside EU headquarters in Brussels calling for the EU to take action to end all forms of discrimination against the disabled.

Demonstrators presented a petition signed by more than one million people, demanding action organized by the European Disability Forum.

Advocates have petitioned on everything from better access to public transport, equal job opportunities to making more user-friendly mobile phones for people with disabilities. The EU is home to some 50 million people with disabilities.
