In my opinion, nowadays English text book is better then the past. As its content not only

focus on improving your reading and writing ability  but also on improving your listening and speaking ability, it step forward a lot, which gives English learners a new direction of learning English.

For in the modern world, English is a tool to communicate with foreigners who come from the countries that have English as their mother tongue, the most important way to perform such communication is through listening and speaking.

Thus the listening and speaking ability is fundamental and essential. If your listening and speaking ability is poor, it will constrain your cooperation with foreigners whether in study or work. However, it is not perfect yet.

Because the text in the English book is not practical nor useful in the daily life. Some are too uncommon to be heard in typical English dialogues.

Actually, in the daily conversation of English people, there are a lot of slangs and idioms, which our text book often ignores.

That is the improvement to be accomplished in the English text book.
