Snowstorms Prompt Reflection of Energy Waste
The recent heavy snowstorm in southern China has severely affected people's daily lives, making people reflect upon the waste of energy in urban areas.
The Shanghai daily carries an article, saying when heavy snow plagued transportation system and cut off power supply, people are forced to do everything possible to alleviate the pressure on energy consumption. So, it suggests bear energy saving in mind all the time, not just during emergencies.
The paper critizes several unnecessary acts of wasting energy, including putting neon lights around tree branches and elevators when nobody is around. It says that turning off the neon lights and a few LED screens should not only be an emergency measure for the present, but also pursued all the time.
It's not so optimistic when it comes to energy supplies when thinking of the threat from an even greater natural disaster. So every citizen is obligated to conserve energy in daily life.
