Yankees Foil Red Sox Fan

In a laughable attempt to put a curse on the New York Yankees, a construction worker, who happens to be a lifelong Red Sox fan, buried a Red Sox jersey in the cement at the new Yankee Stadium last summer.  The man said he was reluctant to work on the new stadium, but gave in to his union.   He worked only one day, enough time to bury the jersey in the concrete of a service area.  Then he opened his mouth and bragged about it.

Two other construction workers remembered the guy, and revealed the location of the jersey.  The Yankee organization decided to dig it up, instead of leaving it.  Yankee president Randy Levine said “why reward somebody who had really bad motives and was trying to do a really bad thing?”  It took several hours with a jackhammer, but the jersey was found.  Yankee players, who happened to be playing the Red Sox in Boston that weekend, scoffed at the man’s stunt. 

The Yankees will probably press criminal charges against the misguided perpetrator, and will turn the incident into a positive thing by donating the jersey to charity to be auctioned off, along with a Yankee jersey.
