Suzhou opens Golden Rooster Film Festival
Twenty international films are set for screening during China's national, Golden Rooster and Flowers Film Festival. It opens Wednesday in east China's Suzhou city.
The films, selected from more than 70 movies from all over the world, are entered in competition for the title of "most popular international film" and a number of other awards at the festival.
Candidates include "Pan's Labyrinth", a Mexico-Spain co-production. It won the Best Picture Award at Cannes in 2006. There's "Lights in The Dusk", a candidate for Best Foreign Language Film at the 79th Academy Awards. It's a joint effort by Finland, Germany and France. There's also the Dutch film "Schnitzel Paradise", winner for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor at the 2005 Netherlands Film Festival.
