Chinese FM meets global leaders to discuss cooperation
China's Foreign Minister has attended a high-level UN Security Council meeting. High on the agenda was international cooperation.
In UN Headquarters in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with leaders from other countries on Tuesday.
Speaking to the Swiss President Micheline Calmy Rey, Yang says China is ready to push relations with Switzerland to a new high by boosting political mutual trust, expanding cooperation, and strengthening consultation and collaboration.
Calmy-Rey says her country is determined to enhance dialogue with China and step up economic and trade cooperation and communication and coordination in international affairs.
Yang also held talks with Congo's President Joseph Kabila. He says he is looking forward to both countries focusing on strengthening bilateral dialogue and cooperation.
When speaking to Italian Deputy Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema, the two men exchanged views on expanding bilateral relations, as well as other international affairs.
Yang also met with Libya's Foreign Minister Abdel-Rahman Shalqam. Yang says China's willing to further promote cooperation in a number of fields and strengthen ties.
Meeting with Caribbean leaders, Yang talked about expanding cooperation in international affairs. These leaders stressed they observe the one-China policy and wish for China's reunification as early as possible.
Yang also attended a meeting with foreign ministers from India, Brazil, South Africa and Mexico to discuss bilateral cooperation among the five countries.
