The year 2011 marks the beginning of China’s implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development. At present， the world is moving further towards multi-polarity and globalization while the innovation of science an technology is brewing new breakthroughs. But， at the same time， the recovery of world economy is still facing many hardships; global issues such as climate change， energy， resources， food and public sanitary security are prominent; and international and regional hot spots are popping up. World peace and development face grave challenges. To strengthen global cooperation and meet the challenges in a joint way is to the best interest of the people of all countries. The China Pavilion is designed with the concept of “the Crown of the East”。 The traditional Chinese wooden structure architecture element–Dougong brackets is introduced. The design concept can be summarized into 16 words， “the Crown of the East， the Crest of Chinese， the Barn for the World and Wealthy People”。 The height of China National Pavilion is 63 meters and the cascade levels shape urban sculpture to reflect the landmark of China Pavilion. The Regional Joint Pavilion is 14 meters high and extends the city texture horizontally to shape a solid base of the building and construct a space for public activities in the city.
